Sensorial Fascia Training for low back pain
Auteurs
BERTRAND Isabelle et COURRAUD Christian
Main objective of this workshop: This workshop aims to enable participants to experience the clinical and educational benefits of Fascia Sensorial Training in the management of low back pain, through movements that target biomechanical and sensory alterations of the fascial system involved in low back pain.
Presentation approach: The workshop will include an oral presentation of the theoretical and practical principles underpinning Sensorial Fascia Training (slowness, basic movement, movement patterns) and its relevance to the management of fascial system alterations involved in low back pain.
This will be followed by a practical session giving participants the opportunity to try out a progressive pedagogical program adapted to the management of low back pain. The practical exercises will be guided by the two facilitators and will lead participants to experience every aspect of Sensorial Fascia Training, observing biomechanical, sensory and psychic changes that accompany each exercise. Exercises will be performed in a seated position on a chair.
During the first practical part, participants will experience different types of slow movement of the spine, with two objectives: to feel myofascial release, to optimize proprioceptive and interoceptive awareness of the fascia, and to perceive a state of mental and emotional relaxation.
During the second practical part, participants’ attention will be focused on movement called basic or linear movements that support the globality and coordination of fascial patterns, with two objectives: to perceive the stability and unity of the spinal column, and to feel the harmonious distribution of muscular effort throughout the body.
The last part of the practical workshop will provide an opportunity to experiment with movement coordination associated with relaxed postures, with two objectives: to feel the flexibility and suppleness of the spine, to perceive variations in postural tone and to sense the fluidity of movement.
The workshop will conclude with a time for exchange and feedback, enabling participants to share with each other and with the facilitators what they have learned and the prospects for their professional practice.
Scientific & Clinical Significance: This workshop offers an original phenomenological and experiential approach to movement that promotes the living dynamics of fascia. It sheds light on the role of movement awareness in optimising and treating the fascial system. It provides pedagogical means to enrich the conscious perception of the body in movement
Objectives:
Participants will have the opportunity to discover and experience the importance of offering movement exercises that act simultaneously on the body and the mind
They will also gain new perspectives on how to manage biomechanical and sensory alterations of the fascial system through sensible movement
They will be provided with a standard and progressive movement program adapted to the somatic and psychic clinical symptoms of low back pain.
